Public Events - The 2011 Caithness International Science Festival

Open Evening
Please take the opportunity to come along to our open evening starting at 6.30 pm  Tuesday 15th at the Pulteneytown Academy, Wick.

  • Mister Bug 6.30 - 7.00 pm
    A 30 minute show and tell class. Learn about giant cockroaches, snails and lizards, see a tarantula and scorpion at close-quarters. Hear about the animals' biology and lives in the wild – in a safe, fun and memorable way.

  • Extra Electricity 6.30 - 7.30 pm
    Investigate different electrical circuits using solar cells in lieu of batteries.

  • K’nex Challenge 6.30 - 7.30 pm
    Can you work as a team to win the k’nex challenge?

  • Galileo’s Greatest Mistake 7.45 - 8.45 pm
    A chemistry/gases show with a difference. Find out about the composition of the air, its weight, pressure, the efects of a vacuum and the secrets of lighter and heavier than air fight. Discover how to become a better scientist through rigorous experimentation.

Free entry to all events. Welcome!

Launch Event
We will also have limited spaces at the launch event in Mackays Hotel on Monday 14th at 6.30 pm. Speakers include Dr McLure, Prof. Grimes, our MP John Thurso and our Lord Lieutenant Anne Dunnett.
